Ben Cumming Photography Achieves National Recognition with UK Photography Print Awards Finalist Selection

Ben Cumming, an award-winning photographer based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has reached the final of the fiercely contested UK Photography Print Awards (UKPPA). This prestigious photographic competition, supported by industry leaders Epson, Photoshield, and the Guild of Photographers, is judged by internationally respected experts who recognize only the best entries in the field.

The competition attracted hundreds of entries from some of Britain’s most talented photographers. Judges could only select ten images in various genres to advance to the final, making Ben’s achievement particularly noteworthy. Those selected represent the very best of professional photography in the United Kingdom.

The final involves live judging of prints by a panel of experts on 6th February 2026 in Staffordshire at a PhotoHubs event. The occasion combines educational opportunities with the excitement of watching judges evaluate the year’s finest photography prints. The event is open to all photography enthusiasts, with tickets available through the PhotoHubs website.

Head of Judging Gary Hill emphasized the significance of the achievement: “An image is an image until it’s printed. That’s when the magic happens and the image comes to life as a photograph. It is so important people print their images rather than forget them on devices or in the cloud. The standard of the entries we have seen is quite staggering, so to have an image selected as being one of the best in a category for the end of year final is without doubt an incredible achievement.”

Ben’s finalist image was captured at Allerton Castle, a historic North Yorkshire wedding venue where he works as a recommended photographer. The image has already demonstrated its quality, having been selected as a possible Wedding Image of the Year finalist by the Guild of Photographers.

Discussing his selection, Ben stated: “This is an important competition! I love my photography and put a lot of effort into developing my skills. One way I do that is to enter competitions as it really helps me push myself. Knowing just how high those standards are in this competition, to have one of my images shortlisted as one of just ten in the final of this category is really exciting! I couldn’t believe it when I found out.”
